BBC Radio 3 to broadcast three Gregson orchestral works
On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 26-28 May, BBC Radio 3 will be broadcasting three works by Edward Gregson on their ‘Afternoon on 3′ programme. These same works will be released on a new CD on the Chandos label in July, with the addition of Gregson’s new concerto for flute and ensemble ‘Aztec Dances.’

Horn Concerto – broadcast of new version
Edward Gregson’s newly orchestrated version of his Horn Concerto is to be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 next Monday 20 January at 3pm. The soloist is Paul Klein with the Ulster Orchestra conducted by Takuo Yuasa.
The Horn Concerto is the first of Gregson’s concertos, written in 1971 and originally scored for brass band. It has been widely performed in that version, but the composer has long wanted to arrange a version for orchestra. Edward Gregson recently spent three days in BBC Media City’s state of the art recording studio with the BBC Philharmonic and Bramwell Tovey, recording a new disc of his orchestral music (Volume 4 for the Chandos label). Included on the disc are two major orchestral works – Dream Song and Concerto for Orchestra – plus two concertos: those for flute and horn, with soloists Wissam Boustany and Richard Watkins.
The CD is due for release in July of this year.…

Edward Gregson is to be the featured composer at the forthcoming NABBA contest to be held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Saturday 12 April. His music has been chosen for each section of the national contest, with the championship section (where the finest brass bands in North America will be performing) setting his new Symphony in two movements as the test piece.
Edward Gregson will be attending the festival where he will be presented with the President’s Award for his outstanding contribution to the brass band repertoire.…
