Gregson’s new BBC commission
Edward Gregson is writing a new work for this season’s BBC Philharmonic series at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall. The BBC has commissioned a new work to go alongside Mahler’s Sixth Symphony for the Mahler Symphony Cycle which runs from January 2010 until June 2010 and is a collaboration between the BBC Philharmonic and Hallé orchestras.
The new work, entitled Dream Song, will be given its premiere at a concert on Saturday March 27, 2010 by the BBC Philharmonic under its Principal Conductor Gianandrea Noseda.

Edward Gregon’s recent Saxophone Concerto is to be broadcast again on BBC Radio 3 on Wednesday 24 June on ‘Classical Collection’ at around 11.30am. The soloist is Nobuya Sugawa with the BBC Philharmonic under Clark Rundell. The work was released last year on CD on the Chandos label, alongside Gregson’s Trumpet Concerto and Concerto for Piano and Wind.…
