Gregson to join jury for the European Composers Competition

Edward Gregson will be travelling to Palanga, Lithuania, at the beginning of May to participate in the European Brass Band Festival. He will be a member of the jury for the European Composer’s Competition to be held on the evening of 2 May 2024 in the Concert Hall, Palanga. He will also be presiding over a seminar for Lithuanian composers on the topic of ‘Composing for Brass Bands’. Edward Gregson’s ‘Of Men and Mountains’ at 2023 National Brass Band Championship

Internationally renowned for his contributions to wind and brass repertoire, Edward Gregson has long waited for the moment his work Of Men and Mountains would make its way to its originally-intended destination, the Royal Albert Hall in London. Gregson composed the work with the 1991 National Brass Band Championship Final in mind, but it was abandoned by the contest’s organiser due to its 17-18 minutes duration.
