Dream Song Premiere a Triumph

Edward Gregson’s new work for the Bridgewater Hall’s ’Mahler in Manchester’ Festival was recently premiered with great success. The BBC commissioned the work to preface a performance of Mahler’s Sixth Symphony. Entitled Dream Song, it was given its premiere on March 27 by the BBC Philharmonic, conducted by Gianandrea Noseda. The work was broadcast at the beginning of May on BBC Radio 3 on its evening concert series slot,

Chandos Releases Download of Trombone Concerto

Chandos Records have released a Download version of the Trombone Concerto
from the recent recording sessions with Peter Moore (BBC Young Musician of
the Year 2008) and the BBC Concert Orchestra, conducted by Bramwell Tovey.

The full CD will be released in February 2011 and will also include
Gregsons Cello Concerto – A Song for Chris – as well as his early ‘Music
for Chamber Orchestra’ and ‘Two Pictures’ for string orchestra.

BBC Philharmonic’s premiere of Dream Song

Edward Gregson has written a new work for the Bridgewater Hall’s ‘Mahler in Manchester’ Festival. The BBC has commissioned a new work to preface a performance of Mahler’s Sixth Symphony. Entitled Dream Song, this new work for large orchestra will be given its premiere on Saturday March 27, 2010, at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall commencing at 7.30pm. The BBC Philharmonic will be conducted by its Principal Conductor, Gianandrea Noseda.

Premier of Aztec Dances

Edward Gregson’s new work for Recorder and Piano, Aztec Dances, will be premiered at a Manchester Midday Concert at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall on Wednesday 24th March at 1.05pm. The work will be premiered by Christopher Orton, who commissioned it with funds he was awarded by the BBC Performing Arts Fund. Christopher Orton is a young British recorder player who is already carving out a successful career for himself, having won international competitions and giving recitals both in the UK and abroad.
