The British Academy of Songwriters, Composers & Authors (BASCA) has announced the nominations for the 15th British Composer Awards, the winners of which will be announced on Wednesday 6 December at the British Museum in London.
Edward Gregson’s Four Études for brass band, commissioned by Black Dyke Band for the recording to mark the conclusion of Gregson’s year as Composer-in-Residence, is one of three nominations for an award in the ‘Wind Band or Brass Band’ category.
The British Composer Awards promote the art of composition, recognise the creative talent of composers and sound artists, and bring their music to a wider audience. This year the Awards will be hosted by BBC Radio 3 presenters Andrew McGregor and Sara Mohr-Pietsch. In addition to the 11 award categories, two composers will be honoured with a Gift of BASCA Award in recognition of their contributions to contemporary music, with one award for Inspiration (presented in association with the Music Publishers Association) and one for Innovation.
