Programme Note
This work was written during my first year as a student at the Royal Academy of Music, London. It was written for fellow student Robert Hill (clarinet), who later went on to become the principal clarinet of the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Romance is very much in the English tradition of Bax, Ireland, and Howells.
