In 2013 I was commissioned by the Friends of the National Youth Choir of Wales (NYCW) to write a work specially to mark the retirement of Keith Griffin, who was Director of Tŷ Cerdd (Music Centre Wales) from 1984 to 2011, and who helped to found the NYCW.  The main commission resulted in the choral work Three John Donne Settings.  However, I wanted to add a more personal tribute to someone who I had known and respected for so many years.  Keith was a long-standing member of the Salvation Army, and had a particular passion for hymns.  Peace, perfect Peace is therefore the result of this tribute.  It is a simple setting of the text by Edward H Bickersteth, with a short introduction and coda.
